František Vízner No. 10 amongst the most influential glass artists of all times

František Vízner was ranked number 10 in the list of top fifty most influential artists who have worked with glass and whose work will remain relevant for the next half-century.

Fifty years after the Studio Glass movement began in the United States, GLASS: The Urban Glass Art Quarterly published the full list as a part of special feature titled "Fifty at Fifty: The artists from the first 50 years of Studio Glass who will remain most relevant for the next 50 years".

The list was compiled by the jury of top curators and critics, including the likes of William Ganis, Tina Oldknow, William Warmus, and James Yood.

Exhibition: František Vízner - Ateliér

The latest exhibition of František Vízner opened this week at the Nová síň gallery in Prague. The exhibition presents the remarkable art of the world famous glass artist, who celebrated his 75th birthday this month. It is a rare opportunity to see for the first time in his country the complete collection of his studio glass production, i.e. unique hand cut sculptural objects created between 1960's and today, including his latest collection from black glass.

The functionalist interior of Prague’s Nová síň gallery is in perfect harmony with the artist’s work and philosophy. Thanks to diffused daylight it allows an impressive presentation of the glass sculptures. Within its space, the artist will orchestrate variations on his basic geometric sculptural forms of universal shapes (bowl, vase or plate) into a composition with the magical light of coloured glass. The installation is visually complemented by the enlarged photographic prints, depicting the artist’s solitary work in the studio.
